Lets talk about Cespedes.
Over the weekend, Cespedes opted out of his contract. This wasn’t a surprise, but I’m still really stressed out over this. He has said time and time again how much he loves being a Met, but he is looking for a 4-5 year deal and $100 million.
A few Mets reported him saying that he will most definitely be back next year, but a few of them reported that he was seen giving hugs and saying goodbye to people at the Mets organization….??????? I CAN’T DEAL WITH THESE MIXED SIGNALS CESPEDES.
He is not one of my all time favorites, or someone that I would follow if he went to another team, but it is extremely obvious that our line up is a million times weaker without Cespedes. He is the most dangerous bat in the Mets line up, and one of the greatest hitters in Major League Baseball. He is smart at the plate, has great at bats, and is an incredible defender. Letting Cespedes walk would be a huuuuuuuuge loss for the Mets. There is no replacing Cespedes.
It scares the life out of me that the Nats are going after him. I can’t deal with Cespedes being a National. I can’t really deal with Cespedes being anything other than a Met, to be honest. He is not someone I want standing opposite our pitching staff. They’re a good pitching staff, they’re just not THAT good. Cespedes is a hard out, and I DO NOT want to deal with that.
I really feel that if the Mets make Cespedes an offer that he can justify, he will take it. He doesn’t want to leave, but he knows his worth. I wouldn’t settle if I were him either. He’s too good to let walk. He knows that, and I hope that the Mets do too. I don’t like the Mets chances without Cespedes.
I’M SO STRESSED OUT.
